About Me

Hey y'all!  My name is Missy Jones, and I'd like to welcome you to my neck of the woods!  I have been married to my wonderful husband, Gerald, for 18 years. We have two beautiful children: Jewell and Brack.

We live way out in the country in a little Alabama town called Tallassee.  As I sit here typing, I'm looking out the window.  All I see are my dogs lying on the front porch and a whole lot of pine trees...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love to set a pretty table or throw a fun party, and I love to do it for next to nothing! Follow along with me as I show you how to use what you have, find great things at flea markets and dollar stores, and sometimes just make things from scratch.

I enjoy cooking, reading, working in my yard, sewing and embroidery, and genealogy among other things.

I regularly teach in the pre-school program and our ladies Bible class at church, and often speak at Ladies' Days around the state.  I love to write, and planning parties and events gets me downright giddy!  We enjoy entertaining and regularly have large groups of people in (and mostly outside) our home.  I am also proud to say that I was published in Christian Woman magazine.

We are about to begin our SIXTH year of homeschooling.  We were incredibly blessed to be able to send our children to private school in the past, but after much thought and even more prayer, we decided that we wanted a slower-paced lifestyle that would allow us not only to be in control of every aspect of our children's education, but to take advantage of every minute we have with our kids to make memories that we hope will last a lifetime...for us as well as them!

I developed an etiquette program for young ladies with my dear friend, Nancy Itson, called Miss Manners and together we plan five or six parties annually. We usually have about 15-18 young ladies participating in our program each year. We were honored to have our program featured on the Southern Lady blog and our local newspaper, The Montgomery Advertiser.

We worship at University church of Christ, where I have been a member since 1974 and Gerald since 1979. Our children love participating in the UYM (University Youth Ministry).

Thanks for stopping by Our Neck of the Woods.  Be sure to check back often 'cause around here, there's always something going on!
